I'm pretty sure I'm not going to turn into a gourd... though I suppose I can't be too careful. I've seen magic along these lines before, in the last world I was in.

[ On the 24th, Rui will find a gift basket of sorts left by the front door of his place. In it is a large bouquet of geraniums, some treats from Moondrop, and a very soft and cute platypus plushie.

There's also a card that reads: ]

Rui-kun, happy birthday! I'm happy to have met you here. And I'm looking forward to creating a brand new stage with you, and showing all of Ellipsa the shows only we can put on.

[Rui is surprised to see the gift basket. He reads the card and smiles. He puts the flowers in a vase and picks up the plushie before pulling out his phone and texting his friend.]

Early Oct, The Pollen Season

[Prism Lake is one that he hasn't gotten the chance to visit, and when he finally arrives, he wishes he'd of made the trip sooner. The beauty of the sun reflecting off of the water's surface is a sight to behold, radiating as beautifully as the sun itself. He can even see spot the different colored fish in the lake from time to time, and makes a note to come back here again when he's not doing something for pay- it's a great spot for just a visit to get away from the mundane life in the city.

But he's also here to do a job, and it's best to start. But before he gets the chance, he notices someone with a drone of sorts...he's still getting used to technology here, but at least it's not really weird for him to see a device like that at this point. He walks over, peering at the device, but also doesn't he know this guy...?]

Huh! Interesting...if you don't mind me asking, what's this for?

[Childe seems genuinely intrigued, seems like something a science dude from the Akademiya would make or the Doctor...]

[Rui chuckles, less at Childe's question and more at the joy of being able to talk about what he is doing. He loves to share his interests with anyone who will listen.]

I've come by to gather jars of pollen for a quest, However, there are supposed to be aggressive wasps around. Well...Wasps survive off of the sugars in pollens and nectars so!

[Rui sets the drone down on the ground and pulls out a remote control.]

I have filled a compartment in this drone with sugar water- [He points to a closed off section of the drone.] right here- and when I'm ready, I'll have it open and fly off, hopefully, leading the wasps away so that I can safely gather the pollen. There's even an auto pilot feature that will allow it to move without me telling it to!

If you're out here too, does that mean you're on the same quest?

Not a bad idea...

[He was warned about the wasps. Rainbow Wasps is what they were called, but for a man who's faced down countless horrors in the Abyss, what are a bunch of wasps going to do? Famous last words.]

You don't mind if I accompany you, would you? I am doing the very same, and it's like the old Ellipsa saying- two pairs of hands are better than one.

[Is that really how the saying goes though, Childe...?]

[He gives a friendly smile back, before surveying over the edge of the lake. With Rui here, this should be a piece of cake. Easiest money he'll of made here so far.]

With the introductions now out of the way, shall we? I really am constantly in awe of a lot of the marvelous things this world has to offer- something like this isn't exactly available to the public back where I'm from.

[He indicates Rui's drone- it's honestly pretty cool.]

Really? I find they're rather handy, which is why I end up making so many of them.

But you're right, let the show begin~

[He pilots the drone with his remote control long enough to get it in the air, and get the attention of the wasps. Once he's sure its's working, he switches it to auto pilot and watches the drone lead the wasps away.]

We should be good to collect all the pollen we want now. When we're done I'll have the lid close and call it back.

[He pulls out his first jar and gets to work collecting pollen.]

[Makes them? That's interesting, he wouldn't of pegged Rui as someone who makes these machines. But all sorts of people have hidden talents, don't they? Never judge someone by their cover.

Tartaglia looks on while the drone goes to work, collecting up all those wasps and getting them to follow the scent of the sugar water away from the pollen so the two of them can set to work. Setting his arms akimbo for a moment as he watches the drone fly off, he finally begins his own collection of the pollen for this particular quest. Rui made his life a whole lot easier, he'll say that. He'll remember to thank him properly somehow, as a favor for the Fatui never goes unrewarded.]

I'm impressed! That worked like a charm. I suppose that's your specialty then? Building machines?

Its one of them. Probably the one I should focus on if I were to make the logical choice. However, my main specialty is directing! Immersing the audience in worlds and stories, making them feel strongly, and come away with unforgettable memories...that is my true calling. Compared to that building machines is more of a hobby.

[He pauses his collection while he speaks about theater to gesture broadly. When he's finished talking, he picks up the collection right where he left off.]

What about you? What's your specialty, Tartaglia-kun?

[He's met a few theater people here so far. How is he getting so lucky to find those in something he enjoys so much? Note to self to ask more about that in a minute.]

Battle, naturally.

[Says it like he's just breathing air or walking on two feet.]

To me, there's nothing more exhilarating than the feel of physical combat. Hah, I could do it all day...no, for days on end if I could.

I see. I suppose it's good that you have something that you like.

[Even though the fact that he's alone with someone who sounds so...battle hungry might be a little worrying. And he can't imagine liking something that hurts others...

Still...The idea that battle is so clearly his specialty? That sounds vaguely familiar actually. There was no harm in asking a weird follow up question.]

This may seem like an odd question, but...can you use chopsticks?

[That's about the reaction he expected. Normal people aren't generally too hot on people like him who enjoy fighting to the extreme degree he does.

The follow up question though...that gets him to raise his eyebrows in surprise.]

Now that's an unusually specific question. Haha...I can't, actually. I've been trying for some time to learn, but they're still so difficult to use...

[Ah, didn't he put that information out there a long time ago though?]

Hold on, we've spoken before, haven't we?

I believe so. Is your username "childe"? Mine is "StageAlchemist". I figured since I haven't met that many people who put fighting first, it was worth a shot to see if you're the same person.

[And its really all he remembers from that conversation, because it stood out to him. How can someone be coordinated enough to use multiple weapons, but be unable to use chopsticks? He still is amazed.]

[As he shoves a bit more pollen into another bottle, Tartaglia laughs- so that's why Rui asked him about the chopsticks.]
